Tip: Quick copy-paste in ubuntu
Some time ago, i observed something real strange with ubuntu and my middle mouse button. after experimentation i managed to get this super quick trick: To copy some text, be it in terminal, in firefox, or anywhere else, just hilight the text. thats all its copied
And to paste? go to where you need to paste the text (duh
) and middle click (click with the wheel)
This method works in gnome, Fluxbox and window maker, so i guess it is wm independant

thanks!

@ all sorry for the delay, i was not at home
yeah, i guess its a very old trick, that must be why i didnt find it in all the tutos or manuals i have read till now and had to experiment by myself
April 20th, 2007 at 7:32 pmYep, i’ve even learnt that at school lool (and we worked on Sun things)
April 16th, 2007 at 12:17 pmWorks in FOSS Unix-like OSes as well, which includes NetBSD for example.
This is an old trick.
April 14th, 2007 at 1:45 pmIn fact it works in every Linux distro (Unix also I presume), if you don’t have the middle button, you can also click both the left and the right button simultaneously to paste the text.
