The web 2.0 craze has started some time ago, and since then we saw many examples of sites adopting this concept of a social web which mainly aims at sharing among the community. famous example are youtube, dailymotion, digg, etc…

It was thus inevitable that this web 2.0 craze touched the otaku! (But why i speak only of the otaku you ask? Isnt that discrimination? haha hey look at the title of this post, what else did you expect? baakaaaa! )

A flagrant example of what i mean is Mangatraders.

Upon heading to this site, you cannot help but notice the (intentional) digg lookalikedness (Hey, my syntax hilighter thinks this is a valid word! damn, i thought i was being creative…)

The site*s principle is really simple. once you register, you can upload the scantrads you have to the site ( that is, if they dont have it yet of course…) And you can download from the already contributed series.

Now thats where it gets really interesting
The fact is that about (on average) 60-150 days ago, it seems the site gained lots of popularity, and there are thus MANY contributions. i have found some really RARE manga scantrads there, like 666satan (awesome manga by seishi kishimoto, yeah the family name sounds familiar to naruto fans ), black cat, Full metal alchemist (The anime is over but the manga is still running), get backers, Evangelion, Dragon head and a lot i have never heard of.

Currently the servers at mangatraders are in a bad posture, downloads can get real slow, but am sure (or rather i hope) some generous souls will donate enough for the site to survive, because the concept is just too great and the site itself is truly cool (Although the true fan wont mind the speed since most of the rarer mangas are almost impossible to find )
