Megaupload country slots - (re)hacked ^_^
If you are one of those who occasionally download stuff from megaupload, chances are that you have already stumbled on the nasty error message stating that your country had no free download slot for the moment.
The issue is, unfortunately, quite common in countries like Mauritius.
Sure, until recently, there was the nifty user agent extension for firefox, which could simulate the megaupload toolbar being installed, and allowed you to download from MU. However, since mid august 07 it seems that megaupload have updated their toolbar, making the user agent switchers kind of useless.
However, there is still a breach. Indeed, the country slot thingie can still be bypassed. Here is how to do it.
Note: These instructions are for Mozilla firefox, but if you know how to use greasemonkey scripts in opera, it will also work. however please note that I do not know how to do it and thus will in no way be able to help you if you are using opera.
Now let`s go 
First thing you`ll need is the greasemonkey firefox extension. if you do not already have it, grab it here.
After the installation, come back here, and download My megaupload user script. You should be prompted to install a user script. You can view the source code if you want.
After installing the script, just go to megaupload.com to initialise the script.
Tadaa, now when you click a megaupload download link, you should normally be able to download your files ^_^
please note that the user agent extension is not required for this to work ^_^

So, wondering what is behind this trick? Simple. In fact, the new megaupload toolbar does indeed append something to the browser`s user agent string, but it seems to be just a decoy, as the site does not check the User agent.
One more thing the toolbar does is create two cookies, and these are what the megaupload site searches for. Thus, the solution was to fake those cookies, and this is just what that script above does. Want to take a look at the source? here it is:

As you see, the script uses a function to create the the two cookies. this is done on going to megaupload.com (hence the initialisation step above.) Thus, if you do not plan to delete your cookies , after this step you could delete the script and it would still work ^_^

Thanks to Ahmed-max who gave a solution for opera users so here goes:
- type “about:config” into your address bar
- go to isp
- input ” ‘197A9F07D8724E438DEBE1C11EBBE405′, 7 ” and push save.
This should do the trick. I haven’t tested it though, i will asap :P

well the script is not there to create a premium account, but to bypass the need to install the toolbar to use the site withouth regional restrictions…
so if you are able to download files without a “you region is already using all the slots” kind of a message, then it works…
I don’t know if anyone knows how megaupload limits the downloads, and how much can you download… rapidshare (for free) gives one file at a time, then a pause about as long as the file is in megabytes (so about 100 minutes)… at least sometimes you can download several files in a sequence at megaupload…

Thank you so much for this wonderful script! Up to a few weeks ago the premium link generator hack had worked wonderfully for me to bypass the slot limits & also the download limit but for some reason the hacks that I’ve used no longer works.
Thankfully I found this page and the script is working great
There’s still the matter of bypassing download limits but mind you I’m not complaining; being able to access MU is enough for me (for now)

Hey, if the speed is really bugging you, i would suggest you use the premium link generator link chervine gave ( http://daiphyer.com/megaupload.....gaupload.c ) (a manga and anime site what`s more ^_^) only thing is that registration is required, and afaik (havent counted) the generator is active from 4 am to about noon (mauritian time, gmt+4)

kyu, that got me thinking even more. as you know am using debian (etch) with iceweasel and d4x. well, if i go through the usual (non premium) method, and then flashgot the file at the last moment (ek d4x la mem), well, the url i get is in a similar format to the link generated by the site. haven`t tested this thouroughly though (uni just started for me now…) will investigate further on that, don`t you worry ^_^

The next thing huh? in fact they used up 2 of the 3 main identification methods, which are
User agent strings
Browser cookies
ip Detection
(i know, they still check your ip, but they put emphasis on the cookies right now.)
So if there was to be a next step (ouch, am i really geek to have thought about nextstep when reading those words? lol) i think the extreme would be to set toolbar to make the browser go through a proxy, optionally with username/password authentification, and setting up megaupload only to accept connections coming from that proxy… it would slow the data transfer, but heck, if they are installing spyware on so many pcs i don`t think they really care about the users` transfer speeds anyway…
(ca fait froid dans le dos hein? heh, but the worst is that this scenario is technically viable, all which is required is a decentralised network of proxies to use… damn, hope they never do this…)
